we're almost to our 1st anniversary (next month!) and i'm still learning so much about kevin. i love that! people are always changing so it's a great experience that we can grow and learn together. the other night while waiting for kevin to get home from work, i started watching the movie, back to the future. i hadn't seen it in years. when kevin came home, he said "this was one of my favorite movies growing up!" then last night we finished the movie together and that's when i also learned that because of that movie, when the main character plays guitar and sings at the dance, that is when kevin was inspired to play guitar and sing. how cool is that? i've always known about his hobbies, but it was so fun seeing a little bit of his childhood and how a dream was inspired.

from that little experience, it has inspired me to always be looking for more ways to get to know my husband. this makes me thrilled to visit poland next month and learn more about his life when he spent 2 years living there -- learning polish, teaching people about Christ, creating memories and touching peoples' lives. 

i woke up this morning with my husband cuddling with me. for those who know me, i am not a morning person. i just can't POP right out of bed every morning like my husband. i have to warm up to getting out of bed. so i tell kevin to cuddle with me for a bit then i'll be in a good mood to wake up. (i know, i'm pathetic)

back track to friday last weekend when i did the styled bridal shoot. i had thrown on my running shoes (bad idea) because the fields we were in covered my shoes in those sticky weeds that do not want to come off, and they would poke right into my foot. so the other day when i actually wanted to go work out, i sat on the porch for 20 minutes trying to pull out all the splinters and weeds. that only lasted so long, so i did homework instead.
so when i woke up this morning, kevin told me that while i was sleeping, he had picked out all those splinters from my running shoes for me. (!!!) i was thrilled and i felt so loved.

ever since i met kevin, he was always so thoughtful in doing the littlest things for me. just the other night i was showing him film photos from photographers i adore and how much i really love film photography. do you know what came to my door the next day? the jose villa fine art wedding photography book. (!!!) i was thrilled and i felt so loved.

it's in the little things that make all the world a difference in a marriage. 

i don't think i've ever been more excited for spring. winter semester at school will end in a couple weeks and we'll be packing everything up and heading to california. moving to a new place is so thrilling to me, especially since wherever i go, my husband is always by my side. i'm thankful for my loving husband every day and feel so blessed to have him in my life.

yesterday we had family night together and went to the gym to play racquetball. i haven't played in so long! even though most of the time i was the one running back and forth trying to hit the ball, we had some good rallies. the funny thing was that we've never played a sport together (!!!) crazy i know. but i loved that we tried something new together and we had so much fun. it's so important in a marriage to bond with each other through activities. i just wish we would have gone and played racquetball earlier in the semester! 

we love making these homemade P.F. Changs lettuce wraps. especially kevin. it's one of his favorites now!  so on this beautiful and productive day, we made them for lunch. (p.s. we use lean ground turkey instead of chicken. yummy alternative!)

the past couple weeks have been stressful and filled with school work for the both of us. we didn't really have time to spend quality time together, which is a big deal. have you ever taken the love languages test? well quality time was one of the top ones for kevin and i. so today we were productive: cleaned the apartment, ran errands and checked off all of my to-do list boxes we've been needing to accomplish. in doing all of this, we spent that quality time together. now that's love.

i can't imagine life without my husband. he is my better half, my best friend and eternal companion. after dating for 6 months and being engaged for 4 months, i was very confident that i was making the right choice when i decided to become his wife.

one piece of advice i always paid attention to while in the dating scene was this, "how he treats you when you're dating is how he'll treat you when you're married." from day one, kevin has been incredibly thoughtful and always forgiving, along with many other qualities i love about him. neither of those have altered since we've been married. our relationship while dating and now has been healthy and full of respect for each other.

05 Never say bad things about your spouse to others- i can't express enough how important this is. whomever you talk to will only remember the bad things about your spouse, not the good things. you wouldn't want your spouse to be saying negative things about you to others. 

we have been married for 6 months now and it has been the best months of my life. i love this man of mine with all my heart. he is my best friend and i am so thankful for the love he gives me every day. i can't imagine life without him!
