he's two months old now! whatt?! this summer has flown by and we're moving back home to utah in just a few days. we'll miss st louis and the memories we've made here. colsen has grown so much these past 2 months and it's exciting watching him explore the world around him and learn new skills.
some notes about colsen this past month:

+ his eye lashes have definitely grown longer and are starting to curl (soo cute)
+ holds his head up strong!
+ is so happy when he's on the changing table and loves to kick his legs
+ smiles all the time
+ loves being cuddled next to mommy in the k'tan wrap. he even stopped crying when he saw me putting it on!
+ is quite the talker in the morning
+ has been sleeping through the night consecutively the past week (!!!) we sure are happy about that!
+ poor guy has acid reflux but it's been much better now that we know how to help him
+ getting more rolls on his thighs and arms
+ likes to be under the play mat and has a strong grip on the links and toys hanging
+ sometimes prefers to be sitting up and looking around rather than laying down
+ easily goes down for naps and puts himself to sleep

twice this week it's happened! i put him down for his nap in the crib - swaddled him & gave him his binky, and he was happy to go to sleep. i went in to check on him and he was just looking around smiling and content... and not asleep yet! so i grabbed my camera to take a photo of him (because how i could i pass up an opportunity like this?!) when i went to take a photo, he looked right at the camera and gave me a big smile! he is such a cheese ball and so full of little surprises these days. goodness, i love this boy so much!  

since becoming a mother, i've definitely learned some lessons about taking care of a baby. before our little guy arrived, i thought i knew all about taking care of babies - i did a lot of babysitting when i was younger. i learned quickly that it's way different when it's your own baby! motherhood is hard and fun and tiring and joyful and the list goes on! but most of all, motherhood is a work in progress and definitely has a learning curve ;) so to either humor you or maybe these will help you in some ways, here's my latest lessons learned:

my sister came into town the beginning of this month and we loved having her here! she gave colsen plenty of aunty cuddles and kisses :) while she was here, we visited the st. louis botanical garden. it was gorgeous and we barely even saw half of it! we (unfortunately) picked the worst time to go and the hottest day too so we didn't last long walking around in the heat right in the middle of the day... poor colsen was sweating so much! i didn't want him to get sunburned or dehydrated, so we left only seeing about half of the gardens.

we were sad to say goodbye to aunty steph, but luckily we'll be moving back home to utah next week and colsen will get double the kisses and cuddles from both of my sisters ;)

while my mom was here for colsen's birth, she brought along some ingredients for us to make our own baby soap! i knew that i wanted to keep things as clean and organic as i could for our little boy and this was such a simple task to make our own soap. the great thing is that you can use this as face soap as well! when we use it, he smells sooo good and it's comforting knowing exactly what ingredients i am putting on his precious (and incredibly soft!) baby skin :)
