i bought these adorable triangle leggings when he was about a month old so he didn't fit into them until now! (well, these pictures were taken over a week ago...) but anyways, they're adorable and i just don't want this boy to keep growing! it's a bittersweet thing -- i want to freeze time and have him stay little forever, yet i'm eager to watch him grow and learn new things. i guess there's a reason why we'll have more than one kid so we can do it all over again with each new child :) 

last saturday night we went to the utah state fair to see what all the hype was about ;) basically kevin and i went to get some funnel cake (our fave!) + since we're cheapos, plus with a sleepy baby, we didn't go on the rides. honestly, we weren't there for super long, but it was great to walk around and people watch! (you get such a mix of people at fairs!) while we were there, i kept thinking about the movie Sandlot when they chew that tobacco, go on a ride and hurl it all up... soo funny.

being a mother is the most rewarding thing. ever since i can remember, i've always wanted to be a mother and it's so much better than i could have imagined! seriously, nothing can compare.

it's been so fun watching him grow over the weeks. he's now able to support his head and he's way more alert and active. he's quite the wiggle worm and loves splashing and kicking in the bath. i took these pictures on a quiet afternoon when i was holding him and he fell right asleep in my arms. i wanted to snap some pictures of him on the accent chair, but once i set him down he was wide awake! 

yesterday, kevin watched him for the first time by himself while i went out with some girl friends to the movies and shopping. it was so nice getting out and not having to worry about bringing a baby around, but i sure missed him! we saw the movie The Giver (amazing movie btw!) and all i wanted to do after that was snuggle colsen and give him lots of kisses.

1. adan and anais swaddle blankets -love these! they have been perfect blankets for the summer. they are so nice to swaddle a newborn (the bigger colsen gets, he wiggles himself out of them) so i mostly use them to cover him up when we're out. they're great to drape over the car seat as a cover as well!

2. tommee tipee bottles - so far, they're my favorite bottles to have on hand. i breastfeed colsen, but for the times that i pump and use the bottle, i love to have these around! 

3. jj cole portable changing pad - i debated on getting a changing pad for the diaper bag, but this has been well worth the money! when we're out and i need to do a quick diaper change, all i do is grab the changing pad rather than worrying about grabbing the diaper bag. there is a pocket so that you can put diapers and wipes in it!

4. boon grass counter top bottle drying rack - great for drying the bottles and it's cute enough to leave on the counter ;)

5. wubbanub pacifier - binkies just don't stay in very well sometimes and colsen pops his out all the time. so getting this binky with the little toy attached has been awesome because first of all, it's much easier to find the binky with a toy attached. secondly, if he pops out the binky, it doesn't go to far and sometimes he can just suck it back in without me having to do it - which is SO nice for when i'm driving and can't reach back. :)

6. baby bundle app - i'm so bad at remembering which side i last breastfed him on, or when he last slept or got a diaper change so this app has been amazing! i love how simple it is and i always have my phone near which makes keeping track of all those things easy! and it's a free app which is a plus.

7. fawn design diaper bag - i can't say enough good things about this diaper bag (!!!) i'm a very picky person when it comes to bags and when i looked around for a diaper bag that was simple, leather and had enough space, i couldn't find a good one anywhere. i ended up just buying a big bag from target and calling that my diaper bag. BUT then i came across the Fawn Design website through a blogger and bought the last brown leather bag she currently had! it's been the perfect diaper bag for me. it has the right amount of pockets, can be worn on your shoulder or as a backpack and it's big enough to fit all the things i need. i highly recommend getting this bag if you're looking for one!

8. munchkin changing pads - i have a changing pad cover but these are so nice to place on top so that you can easily wash those rather than taking off the pad every time. i ended up buying two packs because they're so handy!


...and my list could go on with others, but i thought i'd share my favorites. am i missing anything? what are your baby essentials?

it was a whirlwind of a weekend with moving back home and having family in town for colsen's baby blessing. my family drove down from seattle and kevin's parents last minute were able to come from oklahoma! we celebrated my brother's sweet 16th birthday on saturday and in church on sunday kevin was able to give our sweet baby boy a blessing. i'm so thankful that we have this gospel in our lives and that through the priesthood, kevin was able to bless colsen. it has been amazing watching kevin become a dad and he sure is good at it! after church, we ate lunch together and quickly took some group photos.


i didn't get any photos of colsen dressed up in his oxford shirt and bowtie... but kevin's mom brought the outfit that kevin was blessed in as a baby and i took some photos of him in that! we need to find a photo of kevin wearing it and compare the two :)
