life is pretty slow around here these days. most of the time the living room is covered with toys and and misplaced baby socks and shoes. the kitchen is a different story with bread crumbs and such covering his new highchair and clean dishes waiting to be put away (not to mention the dirty ones waiting in the sink as well...) sometimes i don't get to shower in the morning because during naptime i have different options of things to check off my to-do list, and usually i pick other things over my hair and body being washed.
this winter weather hasn't been so bad, but i'm still a wimp when it comes to the cold. i'd rather stay inside than go run errands if it meant i could be warm and not get dressed and ready for the day. ;) so some days, i don't even step outside our front door and smell the fresh crisp air outside. do i get stir crazy? yes, sometimes i do. yesterday kevin worked from home and got a glimpse of my daily life with colsen and said to me "i can see how you get stir crazy after a while..." and the next thing i knew, he was calling the day spa to book my mother's day gift from last year. bless his heart - how did i get so lucky? that full body massage was heavenly. i left the spa in a daze and it got even better as i was driving home and i watched the sun set over the mountains and reflecting on the lake in the distance. i literally daydreamed of being on a warm beach in a tropical place watching the sun setting down the horizon... i think it's time to plan a vacation. or you could say i'm ready for the springtime to come now.

i tried all kinds of things to try to get him to smile but he simply wasn't in the mood.  to be honest, he's not a big giggler, more like a squealer. he smiles all the time, at least for me and his daddy he does ;) but when it comes to meeting new faces he tends to just stare. if you try reeeaally hard he might give you a smile- the one where his cheeks look like they're filled with marshmallows and his two little teeth show right in the middle of it. that's my favorite smile of his. 

it's been so fun driving by our house once in a while to see the building stages! this is something i've dreamed about since playing "house" with my sisters. it kind of feels surreal when we go walk around inside the house, knowing that we will be living there so soon. we picture how everything will be with our furniture and how it'll be decorated and kevin and i just get so excited! we should be moving in the end of february/early march. i'm just crossing my fingers it's sooner rather than later. ;)

week 22- he's sitting up with a little support and makes the funniest faces. i snapped these pictures while he was on the changing table after i dressed him.


week 23- we surprised my parents and drove up to seattle the week before christmas. they were completely surprised to see us on their doorstep. a few days later, my older sister and her husband drove up as well and surprised them again! it was so fun being all together this year since it's our "off" year to be with the in-laws. i'm happy that we got to spend lots of time with both sides of the family!



week 24- christmas at the mehner's in oklahoma! i made sure to take some pictures of colsen's first christmas with his stocking ;) i'm excited for next christmas when he's older and (maybe?) will start to catch on to the christmas spirit. we'll see, it might not be for a couple years until that happens. either way, it's fun celebrating christmas with a little one around! 



 week 25- colsen at his 6 month check-up! he's a growing boy at 16.8lbs and his head is in the 83rd percentile haha 

i've been the worst at taking pictures of him with my real camera but i'm a pro at pulling out my iPhone! so all of these are from my iPhone/instagram. new years resolution? to pull out the real camera and i want to be better at getting photos of colsen and i together. or at least more mother and son selfies like this one ;)

noteworthy things this past month:

+ sitting up with minimal support and loves to play with his toys- when i'm not really close to him, i just put the boppy pillow around him in case he falls over
+ can roll around on his own, but prefers to either be sitting up or laying on his back. this kid has never been fond of tummy time
+ eating solid food like a champ! he loves applesauce, pears and sweet potatoes. we gave him some guacamole and he just kept gagging-it was pretty funny to watch... sometimes i'll give him little pieces of bread to munch on and he tends to like it occasionally 
+ he's very ticklish in his inner thighs and by his neck - when we tickle him he just squeals and scrunches up
+ loves to be thrown up in the air and smiles and laughs
+ his two bottom teeth have really grown in and during christmas he was teething again (pretty badly) but we haven't seen new teeth yet!
