lessons learned : vol. 1
since becoming a mother, i've definitely learned some lessons about taking care of a baby. before our little guy arrived, i thought i knew all about taking care of babies - i did a lot of babysitting when i was younger. i learned quickly that it's way different when it's your own baby! motherhood is hard and fun and tiring and joyful and the list goes on! but most of all, motherhood is a work in progress and definitely has a learning curve ;) so to either humor you or maybe these will help you in some ways, here's my latest lessons learned:
one
ALWAYS put a clean diaper under the dirty one for a quick switch. If you don't, you may get peed on unexpectedly and/or have to clean up poop that just so happened to slip out while grabbing another diaper...

While out in public and needing to breastfeed your baby, make sure you feed him before he gets really hungry and makes a scene.

Don't do "third times the charm" because no matter how many times you "try" that chocolate frozen custard, it still has the same side effects on the baby spitting up a lot...

Take advantage of second hand consignment baby stores! (*ahem* Once Upon A Child for example) They will save you SO much money (or.. maybe not? because $1 onesies do add up... and i think i have an addiction to shopping for cute boy clothes). so i guess you could say i'm still debating on this one ;)

As much as you may think you want to never introduce a binky to your baby... think again. it's a LIFE SAVER.

Your baby can definitely sleep through the night by at least 7 weeks. Your baby will be happy and so will the rest of the family! (** i read this blog post and tried out what she says and our little man now sleeps through the night consecutively!!)

BORROW baby things from family and/or friends and see if your baby likes it or not. then you'll know exactly what to buy.

Every breastfeeding mother should have at least a manual hand pump. You'll need it.
