our babymoon trip : costa rica

remember that one time we went on a babymoon to costa rica?! well i'm finally posting the photos! looking back at all these images really makes me miss that place. we were there for 9 days and loved every minute of it. i'm so glad we decided to do a babymoon vacation to get away from the colder utah weather, spend time together before the baby and it was really fun going with my parents! we love traveling with them.

we visited an animal sanctuary (which i was excited about since i love animals!)

my mom and i got to hold and play with the monkeys! they were so funny. the only way you could keep them sitting still on your lap was by "picking" through their fur. if you stopped, then they would just climb all over you and easily get distracted.

just up the road from the animal sanctuary was a butterfly house! so of course we checked that out and did a tour

this is the guy who built the butterfly sanctuary. he was quite an interesting guy and he sure knew a LOT about butterflies!

we visited this beach where there weren't many people and it was more secluded. (check out that view!) it was beautiful and warm and there were caves that we walked around in when the tide was low.

one of the days there we went to this awesome secluded spot to swim. the perks of being the only girl AND pregnant is that while the guys had to swim parts of the way there, i was pushed along on a floaty like royalty ;). since i couldn't jump off the cliffs though, i just chilled up on the rock and took pictures of everyone jumping off. this little spot was so beautiful! the photos don't even show how gorgeous it was and i couldn't get a good enough photo of the waterfall right next to us too.

the first place we stayed at was a house we found on air b&b (i definitely recommend checking out that website for cool places to stay!) the house was located literally in the middle of no where out in the jungle. it had an amazing view of the jungle and ocean! we could hear the howler monkeys during the day and the really loud cicada bugs at night. there were little frogs that we'd see swimming around in the pool in the backyard. luckily we rented a four wheel drive car or else there is no way we could have driven up the mountain to get to the house! (most of the roads in costa rica aren't paved so i definitely recommend you rent a four wheel drive if you go)

we visited several different beaches. kevin really wanted to try fresh coconut juice so he bought one at a stand at one of the beaches

one of our favorite things we did was go on a day long boat cruise. we cruised along the coastline and they fed us lunch and snacks. kevin and my dad went snorkeling while my mom and i enjoyed staying on the boat.

on our way to another location, we stopped to look at all the crocodiles from a bridge. in the distance we watched this boat pull up to the riverbank and the tour guide got out and fed the crocodile! these crocodiles were HUGE; probably about 6-8 feet long (!!!) and there were SO many of them.

at the end of our trip, we took a ferry boat ride to an island to visit this beautiful beach. it was my dad's birthday that day so we celebrated by eating at hard rock cafe that night :) we weren't super impressed with that place. the music was so loud that we could barely talk to each other!
