as a new years resolution, we decided to change our eating lifestyle to a gluten free and sugar free diet. so far it's been going great! we both feel much better. it's not only that we are cutting out gluten and sugar (i have to admit, we've left a little room for dark chocolate) but we have made the choice to rarely eat out and cook healthier meals with variety. we've been exploring several different websites for recipes. one that we tried yesterday was making our own taco seasoning. it is a healthy alternative than buying packaged seasons. anything packaged most likely will have high sodium for preserving or sugar. making it homemade was delicious!

SEASONING INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons light ancho chili powder
1 tablespoon paprika
4 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
2 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder

DIRECTIONS
Put ingredients in a glass mason jar and shake to combine.
Yield: enough mix to season two (2 pound) batches of taco meat

  4. Oh my goodness! Are you doing paleo?! I've been doing it for over a week now, well 95% of the time, at least,- have to allow myself a cheat to succeed- and I love it! Although I have to figure out how I'm going to fuel my long distance runs without the pastas and potatoes...-Jessica L
